QUALIFICATIONS FOR PROGRAM
Application Fee - $18.00
Age - Minimum of 18 Years of Age
Education - High School Graduate or GED accepted. All applicants must submit a high school transcript. GED Test Scores and certificate required, if applicable. High school seniors may apply, but will not be placed until graduation.
Minimum Math - Must have completed two full years of high school or post high school Math. One of the courses MUST be a full year of Algebra. Both courses require a minimum grade of "C" in each semester. Transcripts are required.
Aptitude Test - Test appointments will be made after you apply and prove you meet the minimum qualifications. You must score a HIGH on the S72R77 Aptitude Test as administered by Wisconsin Job Center.
Physical Condition - Must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade. Applicants who reach employable status must successfully pass a drug screen test before placement in the field.
Drug Test - All successful applicants will be required to pass a drug screen test prior to placement in the field. The cost of testing will be paid by the Committee.
Each applicant who meets all basic requirements will be interviewed by the Committee. The interviewers will consider: scholastic background, reliability, interest, judgment, attitude, cooperativeness, as well as other personal traits. All applicants will be received without regard to race, color, religion, national origin or sex. All interview finalists will be determined by the individuals aptitude test score and educational background.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE PROGRAM:
Term of Apprenticeship - 5 Years and 8000 hours of On-The-Job Training
School - Each apprentice is required to attend a minimum of 1100 hours of related instruction away from the job.
Work - An apprentice is required to work for an electrical contractor on various construction projects.
Pay - Apprentices are paid a percentage of a journeyman's wage rate according to the year of apprenticeship they are in. The starting pay rate for apprentices is $8.73 per hour.
Cost - Each apprentice will have to purchase their own hand tools (list will be provided) and pay for all book and tuition costs each semester.

RESIDENTIAL - New
Homes, Apartments & Condominiums
COMMERCIAL - Office Buildings, Hospitals,
Schools and Shopping Center
INDUSTRIAL - Small Machine Shops, or Large
Manufacturing Facilities such as Kohler and Hansen Chemical
EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFORMED BY CONSTRUCTION ELECTRICIANS:
bending conduit / pulling of wire and cable / lighting fixture installation / digging a trench for cable or conduit / installing Romex or B.X. / wiring & setting of service switch gear / mounting and wiring transformers / reading blueprints
EXAMPLES OF FACTORS THAT CAN EFFECT JOB CONDITIONS:
Stage of construction-open walls, no windows, unsealed roof / Weather - heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, dampness / Cleanliness - mud, dust, debris, water / Noise - tools, equipment, mfg. Lines / Heavy Lifting-large conduit, large cable, cartons of material
In the electrical construction trade the majority of work is done above the ground. This work is performed using ladders scaffolding and power lifts. If you have a fear of heights, the construction electrician program is not for you.
When placed with a contractor, you can expect to work anywhere in the Kettle Moraine area. This area includes Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, and parts of Calumet, Manitowoc and Dodge counties.
You must have a reliable car, truck etc. to get you to the construction site, from job to job and to classes.
